Maoists Sunday set ablaze 36 vehicles at five different places in tribal Bastar region in Chhattisgarh, in an effort to stall road construction activities in the tribal area.

Police said the Maoists struck simultaneously at five different places in Bhadkali and Tarlaguda area in Bijapur district.

The incidents occurred on a 36 kilometre long stretch of National Highway no. 202, between Bhopalipattanam and Tarlagunda where road construction work was pending for long, due to Maoist activities.

Maoists also set ablaze a repair van of railways between Kamloor and Bhansi on K K Line today.

Maoists have been stalling road upgradation and development in many parts of tribal Bastar region in order to prevent speedy movement of security forces engaged in anti-Maoist operations.
