rajnathUnion Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that Maoism was one of the biggest challenges to democracy. Addressing a high level meeting in Raipur, the state capital of Chhattisgarh, he said violence has no place in a democracy.

Mr. Singh said that the government seeks cooperation from the people for development and maintenance of law and order to end the menace.

He said the central government is committed to provide all possible help to states to deal with Maoist problem.

The Minister held a meeting with senior police and administration officials of the state government and paramilitary forces today during his visit to Raipur. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh also attended the meeting.

Issues related to education, health, infrastructure like roads and bridges, agriculture, employment as well as self-employment in Maoist-affected areas were discussed in the meeting.

The Minister also attended the convocation ceremony of Kushabhau Thakre Journalism and Mass Communication University during his visit to Raipur.
