President Pranab Mukherjee today said, effective communication with the people of the country is the need of the hour. Speaking after the release of two books – Mann ki Baat and Marching with a billion – Analysing Narendra Modi’s Government at Mid-Term in New Delhi, Mr Mukherjee said, Mann Ki Baat programme of All India Radio is playing a greater role in this regard.
The President said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an effective communicator and is in touch with people of the country regularly through the Mann Ki Baat programme. He said, the government has been taking several initiatives to develop the country and the Indian economy is moving fast amidst global slowdown.
On the occasion, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari said Mann Ki Baat is a genious programme by the Prime Minister to reach the people. Mr Ansari said, it has become a tool of direct communication with the people of the country.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said radio is an effective medium to reach to the people. Mr Jaitley said though media has become powerful but the country has witnessed decline in the listenership of radio.
The Minister said radio can play a pivotal role in reaching out to the people.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing radio for the Mann Ki Baat programme.
