Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and several Aam Aadmi Party legislators were detained by police today while they were on their way to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi to protest the arrest of a party MLA. The MLAs were detained for violating prohibitory orders around 7 Race Course Road. The AAP MLAs who were detained earlier today have been released by police.
The battle between the Delhi government and the Centre escalated as Mr Sisodia dared to arrest him on allegations of intimidating the businessmen of the Ghazipur Vegetable Market Association. Mr Sisodia said, he had gone to the market yesterday for a surprise inspection, where he found out that few people were indulging in malpractice and other untoward activities.
