One elderly person was killed and five injured in a rocket propelled bomb attack in Moirang town of Bishnupur district today. According to a Police report, the incident took place this afternoon when some armed miscreant fired a rocket propelled bomb which was blasted at a house situated along Moirang-Sendra Road. The house belongs to former Indian National Army (INA) freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of Manipur Shri M. Koireng Singh. One elderly person who was doing some work there was killed in the blast and five others were injured.
The incident spot is near to the INA Memorial Complex in Moirang which is a historic place of India’s independence movement and the INA flag was hoisted there under the command of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose during the Second World War.
Meanwhile, the State Government has declared a holiday holiday tomorrow for all schools and colleges in Manipur in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.
