A special NIA court granted permission to the 2008 Malegaon blast accused Retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay to contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and visit the state.

Special public prosecutor Avinash Rasal yesterday said, the court has granted permission to Ramesh Upadhyay to go to Uttar Pradesh for three weeks. However, the court has imposed a number of conditions on him.

Upadhyay is contesting elections from constituency number 363 Baria in Ballia district on the ticket given by Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha. The court had on 20th of last month allowed him to file his nomination form.
