arun-jaitley-at-davosGovernment will soon announce radical changes in the film certification. Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley said, there was a need to liberalize film certification norms. He said, the first part of the Shyam Benegal Committee report to lay down norms for film certification is under consideration of the ministry.

He was speaking to media to a question over the controversy on the Censor Board objections to the release of Udta Punjab film during a TV Award show.

He said, there are some people in the certification system who may have some conservative attitude but there are also internal checks and balances mechanism.

He said, after the board, there is a Appellate Tribunal for film certification and 99 percent of the films get cleared without much changes. The Minister said, he is not satisfied with the current system.

On the black money issue, Mr. Jaitley, who is also Finance Minister, said the government is dealing with the issue reasonably and consistently.

The Minister also said the India is back on the global radar and perception towards the country have changed globally in the last two years.
