An average of 9.35 per cent combined polling was recorded in the by-polls of Kasba Peth and Chinchwad in Pune district of Maharashtra today. Till 11 AM today, 8.25 per cent polling was recorded in Kasba Peth and 10.45 per cent in Chinchwad.

The Kasba Assembly constituency in Pune city witnesses a contest between the BJP’s Hemant Rasane and Congress’s Ravindra Dhangekar supported by the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance while Ashwini Jagtap of the BJP and Nana Kate of the NCP are in fray for the Chinchwad seat.

The by-polls in Kasba was necessitated due to the death of Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs Mukta Tilak and Chinchwad was vacant due to the death of BJP’s Laxman Jagtap. Police said the polls have been by and large peaceful so far.
