Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to withdraw application of its candidate in Maharashtra from Andheri East assembly bypoll. State President Chandrashekar Bawankule today announced this decision in Nagpur. BJP had nominated Murji Patel for Andheri East assembly bypoll.
The elections are being held due to the death of seating MLA Ramesh Latke. Shivsena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray party has fielded Rutuja Latke, widow of Ramesh Latke. Yesterday NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray appealed to BJP to withdraw application of their candidate. State Minister Pratap Sarnaik, who is from Balasahebanchi Shivsena Party also requested Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to withdraw application of a candidate against Rutuja Latke. A total of 14 candidates have filed applications for this bypoll and today is the last day to withdraw candidature.
