Madras High Court has rejected the plea of former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran and six others seeking to quash the charge sheet filed against them by the CBI in the telephone exchange case,.

The central investigation agency filed the charge sheet against Dayanidhi Maran, his brother Kalanidhi Maran, Sun TV executives and senior BSNL officials in 2013. It said Mr Dayanidhi Maran misused his position as a Minister in the Union Cabinet from 2004 to 2007 and established about 700 hi-speed connections illegally.

Justice Jagadeesh Chandra yesterday gave the verdict saying, charge sheet should be filed afresh by following the established procedures. He said there is no basis to quash the proceedings against the accused.
