bhopal-jailMadhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan Wednesday visited the Central Jail in Bhopal and inspected the arrangements. Eight members of the proscribed SIMI escaped from the jail after killing a security guard on the night of Diwali and were gunned down by police within few hours near here.

The Chief Minister directed to make the security arrangements more stringent and also asked to review the overall security arrangement of the jail. Chauhan was accompanied by newly-appointed Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh and other senior administrative officials.

Ever since 8 dreaded SIMI terrorists fled from Bhopal Central Jail questions are being raised about the security arrangements here.

It was in response to this that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan reviewed the jail’s security arrangements on Wednesday and instructed authorities to further tighten them.

The jailbreak of the 8 SIMI terrorists alerted jail authorities across the state as security in all prisons was further tightened with the positioning of additional security personnel.

HM Rajnath Singh has said that the Madhya Pradesh govt has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile counsel for the terrorists has claimed that the post mortem report says that the terrorists were shot at from the front over the waist on the head and chest.

The incident made headlines when on October 31 had escaped from Bhopal Central Jail after slitting the throat of the jail warden.

A short while later all 8 were gunned down by Bhopal Police in an encounter 10 kilometers from the city in Manikheda in an encounter.
