India’s Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar today tore apart entire policy of Pakistan on Kashmir. Making a brief intervention in the Lok Sabha during the debate on the situation in the Kashmir valley, Akbar warned Pakistan for pursuing a self destructive policy over Kashmir saying the attempts to push terrorism will harm it.
Akbar reminded Pakistan that when children were killed in Peshawar terror attack, India had unequivocally condemned it and mourned the tragedy.
” On Hizbul commander Burhan Wani’s killing, Pakistan is observing black day which is unfortunate”, he said while appealing to the members to rise above party affiliations and speak in one voice on Kashmir issue.
He stressed on the importance of a comprehensive policy to resolve the Kashmir problem. He said, the challenge before the nation was to ensure that the misguided youths were taken back to the mainstream. He said, the challenge could be dealt with by the ‘Kashmiriyat and Insaniyat’ of Kashmir which is inherent virtues of the philosophy of Kashmir.
Earlier initiating the discussion, Jyotiraditya Scindia of Congress demanded sending of an all party committee to find solution to the prevailing unrest in the valley. He accused the Centre of being a silent spectator and doing nothing to restore peace in the area.
He said, during the UPA regime, the State GDP growth was over five per cent, which has now turned into negative zone. He questioned why adequate security forces were not deployed in the sensitive areas of the State. Mr Scindia also asked the government to take steps to secure the borders and the people and his party is with the government.
Participating in the debate, Anurag Thakur of BJP said the Centre and BJP- PDP coalition government are making all out efforts for the development of the state. He said, Naredra Modi government had announced a package of eighty thousand crore rupees for the state which is three times more than the amount given during UPA regime. He said, Kashmir is the integral part of India.
Stating that Pakistan is sponsoring terrorism in the valley, he said there is a need to remain united to fight against terrorism. Mulayam Singh Yadav of Smajwadi Party said that Centre must take political initiative and talk to the youth of the Kashmir to find a solution.
He said, peace will not prevail unless terrorism is uprooted.Muzaffar Hussain Baig of PDP said the central government should immediately chalk out a roadmap for Kashmir which will have balance, patience, sympathy,positive approach and dialogue. He also urged the government to find out whether there was scope of arresting Burhan Wani or eliminating him was the only option before the police.
