Round-the-clock lockdown-like restrictions imposed in Kerala from midnight last night to slow down rising Covid-19 cases have evoked positive response. Only essential services are allowed.
Parcel and home delivery services will be available in hotels and restaurants till nine at night. Long-distance trains, buses and pre-booked tourist taxis are operating. Police have intensified checking of vehicular traffic across the State.
This is the second Sunday lockdown being imposed in the State during the third wave of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Kerala’s daily caseload crossed 50 thousand for the fourth consecutive day yesterday. The State reported 50 thousand 812 fresh cases and 47 thousand 649 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
Test positivity rate surged to 45.78%. The State’s cumulative caseload has risen to three lakh 36 thousand 202.
