In Leh, two patients are quarantined after being tested positive to Corona Virus. The two males were in Iran for pilgrimage recently and returned to Leh on different dates.
Commissioner and Secretary Rigzin Samphel along with the officers of Ladakh Department of Health briefed the media about reported cases and measures taken to contain the virus.
Mr Samphel said, the pilgrims returned India on 22nd and 26th February from Tehran after pilgrimage and proceeded to Leh. Upon showing symptoms of COVID-19, the further tests have confirmed the infection. The patients are quarantined in Leh District Hospital and their families at respective homes on precaution. Treatment as per the WHO protocol has already been initiated.
The UT authorities have the details of the of 257 passengers of two flights from Delhi to Leh and asked to report any Corona symptoms. The UT Administration has undertaken all measures to collect information from the inbound passengers at airport and also released help lines in Leh and Kargil.
Mr Samphel appealed people of Ladakh to maintain calm and report any symptoms to the District Health Officers. On the other hand, District Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar announced closure of all primary schools in Leh on precaution till 31st of March.
