Rijiju in Lok sabhaUnion Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has said that the law will take its course and there was no interference in police work, with regard to the stalking case of the daughter of a senior IAS official in Chandigarh.

One of those accused is the son of a senior BJP leader in Haryana. CCTV footage is being assessed and the law is taking its course.

The centre has clarified its stand in the Chandigarh stalking case of Varnika Kundu, daughter of Haryana senior IAS officer. It has said that it has no role in this matter and police and the law and order machinery are doing their job fairly and independently.

The accused Vikas Barala’s father who is Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala has echoed the centre’s statement. Referring to the victim as being akin to a daughter to him, he has stressed that he is not putting any kind of pressure to save his son.

Meanwhile, Varnika Kundu has reiterated that she has full faith in the police action, that she would get justice and also her belief that the whole country was with her.

Earlier, questions had been raised about the role of Chandigarh police. Initially, police had said that CCTV cameras of the incident site were not working. Later it claimed to have acquired the footage.

Last Friday night, Varnika was riding in her car between 11 and midnight. Two boys followed her and tried to pull her as she entered her gate. She immediately called the police who reached the spot and arrested the two accused.
According to the police, the accused were intoxicated. One of them is the son of BJP chief of Haryana Subhash Barala. The two were presented in Court on Saturday after which they were granted bail.

Now that the CCTV footage has been found in the case, problems can only mount for Vikas Barala and his friend.
