The government has announced a seven-day state mourning in the nation to pay homage to the former president.

- The mortal remains of the former president brought to his residence at 10 Rajaji Marg.
- Mukherjee’s body will be kept at his official residence in the morning hours at 10 Rajaji Marg in the national capital to allow the public to pay their last respects.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid last respects to Pranab Mukherjee.
- Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief General MM Naravane, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh paid last respects to the former president.
- Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan paid last respects to the former president.
- According to a release by the Ministry of Defence, the wreath-laying ceremony will begin at 9:15 am and conclude at 12 pm.
- Here is the schedule of the wreath-laying ceremony: 9:15 am to 10:15 am for official dignitaries, 10:15 am to 11:00 am for other dignitaries and 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for general public.
- In view of COVID-19 related protocols, the mortal remains of the late president will proceed in hearse van instead of the normal gun carriage.
- The Defence Ministry said that all protocols/guidelines issued by the Health Ministry and MHA in regard to COVID-19 preventive measures will be followed.
