16 teams of National Disaster Response Force, 60 army teams and 18 teams of State Disaster Response Force are undertaking relief and rescue works.

Four helicopters have been pressed into service at Sadia of Tinsukia district to air drop necessary food items and rescue marooned people. Quoting official sources news agencies report that five killed in the state following flash flood.

In Sikkim, rescue operations began this morning for the flashflood and landslides victims in north districts. North Sikkim remained cut off from rest of the state due to several landslides which occurred on Mangan Chugnthang highway following heavy rain in the area. AIR correspondent reports that the district administration so far has confirmed 16 deaths and other 5 are still missing.
