RJD chief Lalu Prasad and former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra appeared before a special CBI court in Patna today for hearing in case related to the fodder scam.
The case relates to withdrawal of rupees 47 lakh fraudulently from Bhagalpur treasury. The CBI had registered a case in this regard in 1996. Later, it filed a chargesheet naming 44 accused including Lalu and Mishra.
Last month, the Supreme Court had ruled that Lalu will have to stand trial in all four fodder scam cases setting a side a Jharkhand High Court order which had dropped conspiracy charges against RJD chief.
The fodder scam relates to fraudulent withdrawal of rupees 900 crore by the Animal Husbandry department from various districts when Lalu Prasad was Chief Minister.
