On the second day of 3rd Khelo India National Winter Games being held at world famous ski resort at Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Cross Country 1.5 KM Sprint event for girls was held smoothly at Golf Club Gulmarg this morning. However, due to continuous snowing and strong winds at Gulmarg and its upper reaches, the sports events like Alpine and Snowboard scheduled for the day at Kangdoori, Gulmarg were called off by the organisers.
The Khelo India Winter Games were declared open yesterday by the Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. More than 1500 athletes drawn from various parts of the country are participating in the five-day mega event in eleven different sports categories.
