Key domestic indices closed with modest gains on Tuesday amid negative global cues. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange ended above the 63,300 mark while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange settled above the 18,800 level.

The Sensex rose 159 points to finish at 63,328. The Nifty also gained 61 points to end at 18,817.

In the forex market, the rupee today closed at 82 rupees and 12 paise against the US dollar.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, Gold futures for August contracts were trading at 59,260 rupees per ten gram. Silver futures for July contracts were trading at 72,180 rupees per kilogram when reports last came in.

In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 76 dollars and 80 cents per barrel.
