In Kerala, ruling LDF emerged victorious in the by-elections held for 15 local body wards in 11 districts in the State. The LDF bagged seven seats, the UDF led by Congress won five and the BJP three seats. BJP retained the Pappanamcode ward in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in a triangular contest.

This was the first by-election after the CPI (M)-led LDF government came to power in the State in May this year.
