Special NIA Court in Kochi today sent Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair, key accused in Kerala Gold Scandal Case to 8-day NIA custody till July 21.
NIA submitted in the court that the accused forged seal and emblem of UAE Embassy to commit the crime. Smuggled gold has used not for jewellery but terror activities, NIA informed the court.
The gang engaged in gold smuggling from 2019 onwards. NIA registered FIR under UAPA act in this case. FIR names Sarith P.S, Swapna Suresh, Fazil Fareed and Sandeep Nair as accused.
On Sunday the court remanded Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair to judicial custody.
They were taken into custody by NIA on Saturday in Bengaluru. Both were brought to Kochi yesterday from Bangaluru by NIA.
