Kerala reported a surge in covid figures as it confirmed 17,755 new COVID-19 positive cases today. The test positivity rate has increased and at present stands at 29.62 percent. 17 deaths were also confirmed due to COVID today. At present, 90,649 is the active covid caseload in the state.
48 new cases of omicron infection were also confirmed in the state today. Of With this the total number of omicron cases confirmed in the state has rose to 528.
Meanwhile State Health Minister Veena George said that there is a possibility of an unprecedented hike in Covid spread in the state in the coming weeks.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the district administration has imposed strict restrictions in view of the high rate of Covid spread. Public meetings and community gatherings are banned in the district.
