continuing the tradition of UDF and LDF winning alternatively in every assembly polls. With all the results available now, LDF has won 66 seats and independence two. The winners include Chief Minister Achuthanandan and opposition leader Oomen Chandy, P.K. Kunhalikutty of Muslim League and others.
In Assam, results of all but one assembly seat have come in. The Congress has won absolute majority by winning 78 seats in the 126 member assembly. The Congress ally Bodo Land Peoples Front has won in 12 constituencies. The AGP has won in 10 seats, BJP five and AIUDF bagged 18 seats. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has won his native constituency at Titabor for the third time in a row. He said, the new government will be formed in the state before the 19th of this month.The party is leading in 70 out of 126 seats and its alliance partner BPF leading in six seats.
In Kerala incumbent CM VS Achuthanandan and CM-probable Oommen Chandy have won their respective seats.The first result in the April 13 Assembly polls in Kerala has gone in favour of UDF, with Varkala Kahar of Congress retaining the Varkala segment in Thiruvananthapuram district. UDF heads towards victory in Kerala He defeated his nearest rival AA Rahim of CPI-M by over 10,000 votes.
Power Minister and CPI-M candidate AK Balan won by a margin of over 21,000 votes in Tharur(SC) in Palakkad district. UDF’s MV Sreyamskumar (SJD) won by 15,720 votes from Kalpetta in Wayanad district defeating CPI-M’s P A Muhammed. In Manathavady, PK Jayalakshmi (Cong) won by a margin of 11,872 votes defeating her nearest rival KC Kunhiraman (CPI-M).

K Muraleedharan (Cong) won Vattiyurkkav defeating the LDF-Ind Cheriyan Philip by over 8000 votes.MA Wahid (Cong) has retained Kazhakkoottam seat in Thiruvanathapuram.
PK Vijayalakshmi (Cong) won Manathawadi (ST) from KC Kunhiraman (CPI-M).Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan has retained Malampuzha seat by defeating Lathika Subash of Congress by over 23,000 votes. Congress leader and UDF’s Chief Minister probable Oommen Chandy has won from Puthupally for the ninth consecutive time.
In Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his cabinet colleague Ajanta Neog are ahead of their nearest rivals, while opposition leader and two-time chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta of AGP is also leading in Berhampur by 3547 votes over Suresh Bora (INC).
The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is ahead in seven seats while other smaller parties are leading in 37 seats as per the trends available for the 126-seat Assam Assembly elections. BJP state president Ranjit Dutta is trailing behind Pallab Lochan Das (INC) in Bihali by 867 votes. In Titabar, Tarun Gogoi is leading over Montu Moni Dutta (AGP) by over 1000 votes, former minister Ripun Bora’s wife Monika Bora (INC) is leading over Utpal Bora (Ind) by 1468 votes in Gohpur. In Bokajan, Klingdung Ingti (INC) is leading over Jagat Sing Ingti (Ind) by 1117 votes, in Howraghat Khorsing Ingti (Inc) leading over Somang Kro (Ind) by 140 votes, in Biswanath Minister Nurjamal Sarkar (Inc) leading over Prabin Hazarika (AGP) by 1284 votes.
In Kokrajhar West, Pradip Kumar Brahma (BPF) is leading over independent U G Brahma by 3904 votes, in Sidli(SC) Congress ally and minister Chandan Brahma (BPF) is leading over Mauthi Brahma Hazowari (BPF) by 3864 votes.

In Baghbar, AIUDF’s Shiman Ali Ahmed is leading over Rajib Ahmed (INC) by 2979 votes and in Jonia, Abdul Khaleq (INC) is leading over Rafiqul Islam by 1166 votes. In Tezpur Rajen Barthakur (IND) is leading over former AGP president Brindaban Goswami by 600 votes.
In Sootea, BJP’s Rajesh Sarma is leading over CPI(M) Khemraj Chetri by 794 votes while in Golaghat PWD minister Ajanta Neog (INC) is leding over AGP’s Omeo Kumar by 2100 votes. In Khumtai, Bismita Gogoi (INC) is leading over AGP’s Upasana Gopgoi by 2000 votes.
