Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have agreed upon the need for action on many measures aimed at preventing re-occurrence of smog in the winters of 2018.
In a meeting at Chandigarh today, they discussed various reasons for air pollution including crop residue burning and vehicular pollution and resolved to put sustained efforts to tackle the problem.
In a joint statement, both the Chief Ministers said, the meeting was fruitful and both leaders shared deep concern on the heavy smog in the National Capital Region. Both leaders said that polluted air is a serious health risk and requires concrete and quick action on number of fronts.
Earlier in the morning when Mr Kejriwal reached Chandigarh airport to meet Haryana CM, around 200 workers of Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal staged protest against him. Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh yesterday refused to meet Mr Kejriwal.
