The World Heritage Site Kaziranga National park in Assam, re-opened for the visitors today after its annual monsoon closure. Forest minister Atowa Munda opened the park at Mihimukh. Park authority said that jeep and elephant safaris will be available for visitors.

The park remain closed during monsoon session. The world heritage site is one of the most important tourist hubs in the north east. Kaziranga has the largest population of the One Horned Rhinoceros and the home of largest population density of the Royal Bengal Tigers per 100 sq Kilo Meter. Hundreds of foreign and domestic tourists arrived in Kaziranga yesterday.

The park has recorded an increasing number of tourists every year. The Centre has already announced to set up Special Rhino Protection Force to prevent rhino poaching.
