Karnataka Cooperative Minister S.T. Somasekhar has said that Karnataka stands out in the country towards implementation of Atmanirbhar Bharat programme. Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru today, he informed that under this programme, 614 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies in the state were credit-linked with Rs 198.96 crore.
During the current financial year till 25th of February, the cooperative banks have disbursed Rs 141.22 crore short-term loans to 21.64 lakh farmers while 36,000 farmers were given Rs 800.51 crore as mid-term and long-term loans. The total loan disbursement to the farmers stand at Rs 14,979.73 crore which is a 90.56 per cent progress. The Minister informed that he has issued directions to create 5,000 jobs in milk federations and credit cooperative societies for the youth.
