A voter turnout of 70 per cent was recorded in the Karnataka assembly elections today. The polling was held today in 222 Assembly constituencies out of total 224 constituencies.

Briefing media reporters in New Delhi this evening, Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said, the poll percentage is likely to go up as people were still in queues to cast their votes.

In the previous Assembly elections, the polling percentage was 71.4 per cent and in the Lok Sabha polls, it was 67.2 per cent.

Mr Sinha said, the polling was peacefully and no incidents of violence were reported.
