Gearing up for 2018 Karnataka Assembly polls, the Congress on Sunday gave its approval to its 43-member state Election Committee.
According to AICC general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi, the 43-member committee, approved by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, will be headed by the state PCC chief G Parameshwara.
It also includes Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of Karnataka KC Venugopal besides senior party leaders from the state, Mallikarjun Kharge, D K Shivakumar, Dinesh Gundurao, S R Patil, Veerappa Moily, B K Hariprasad, Oscar Fernandes and Margaret Alva.
Elections to the state’s 224 Assembly seats are expected in a few months.
The party chiefs of both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party – Rahul Gandhi and Amit Shah are campaigning aggressively in the state, in a bid to retain and clinch the power.
