Different Political parties have intensified election campaigns as Karnataka assembly election approaches nearer. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held three public meetings today and one mega roadshow at Kalaburagi this afternoon on his second leg of the two-day election campaign. In his second public address today at Hospet, the prime minister said Congress has lost the trust of the common people and the party can only lie in the name of guarantees these days in Karnataka.
He told the double-engine government in Karnataka has worked for the welfare of people experiencing poverty to ensure social justice and social empowerment. Saying around 11 crore farmers across the country have been availing benefits under PM Fasal Bima Yojana, the Prime Minister said the BJP government has been dedicated to empowering farmers. In the Sindhanur public meeting, the prime minister said JD(S) is only wanting votes in the name of one family; but BJP, on the other hand, wants to work for the people. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, at a public meeting in Hanur, affirmed that BJP would not let the reservation for SC, ST, Vokkaliga, and Lingayat communities be lowered.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi addressed a public meeting at Chitradurga. Seeing the large crowd, Modi said the event reflected the decisions of the people of Karnataka-Ee Bariya Sarkar, Bahumatada Sarkar. He said Congress can never compete with BJP’s developmental works, and his party is fighting this assembly election in Karnataka to make the State No. 1.
The Prime Minister said the Congress has a history of appeasing terror and terrorists, adding that Congress and JD(S), which promotes terror, can never benefit the State. Saying Karnataka is the driving force of a developed India, Mr. Modi appealed to the voters to vote for a double-engine government. Attacking the opposition parties, Modi said Congress and JD(S) indulge in dynastic politics and corruption and aim at dividing the society, adding that Karnataka’s people should beware of both parties’ politics.
Countering to PM’s statement on Corruption, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at an election rally in Shivamogga, asked why does PM not utter a word on the BJP government’s corruption in Karnataka. He alleged that the prime minister is not saying anything about Karnataka; instead, he speaks only about himself. Mr. Gandhi held a roadshow in Chikkamagaluru this afternoon. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi addressed a public meeting at Mandya and will participate in three roadshows at Chintamani and other places in the state.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury questioned the BJP’s confidence in their own performance and asked why PM Modi has to campaign in Karnataka for elections. In addition, former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Deve Gowda and his son D K Kumaraswamy are holding public meetings and roadshows at different places to woo voters in their favour.
