Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol paid a visit to the flood-affected village of Mirji in Mudhol taluk of Bagalkot district today. He interacted with the displaced persons camping in a relief camp. He assured them of building houses in a safe location.
Meanwhile, the rain situation has stabilized near Maharashtra border but inflow into reservoirs in Krishna basin remains high. The water storage in Almatti dam in Vijayapura has reached 518.05 metres against its full capacity of 519.60 metres.
All the 26 crust gates of the dam are opened to release the water downstream. The outflow recorded is 2,13,000 cusecs. All the reservoirs in the Cauvery basin too are receiving good inflow of water.
KRS, Kabini, Hemavathi and Harangi dams are filled to the brim. The Met Department forecast says that widespread light to moderate rains are likely over coastal Karnataka, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikmagalur and Shimoga districts.
