Bengaluru city continues in the grip of a surge in Covid positive cases in Karnataka. It reported 25,595 positive cases and seven deaths yesterday recording a positivity rate of 18.97 percent. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has made several preparations in an effort to contain the impact of Covid third wave.

AIR Correspondent reports, Bengaluru city has witnessed 250 percent increase in case numbers. Hospitalization is however only 1.3 percent of overall active cases and less than 0.5 percent are on critical beds. Among the active cases, 10 percent are in the age group of 0 to 18 years age group.

Covid 19 is spreading more among adults than among children during the third wave. Since 95 percent of the Covid active persons are asymptomatic and quarantined at homes, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has started control rooms at each of the 27 Medical Officers of Health units to monitor and share data related to Covid cases.

Testing has increased to over one lakh per day. Tele triaging is done within 24 hours of a person being reported positive by over 300 mobile triage units. On an average 3000 patients are physically triaged at their doorsteps.

Till date 55 thousand home isolation kits have been distributed. There are 28,067 hospital beds identified in the city for Covid patients. Apart from this 1387 beds are available in 17 Covid Case Centres.
