After the Election Code of Conduct was imposed in Karnataka with the announcement of Assembly elections, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has begun removing banners, flex, posters, hoardings and any other display with the names and photographs of the political leaders in Bengaluru city.

The political parties, agencies or any individual violating the code will be booked under the relevant Act. No public function can be held till the end of the elections without prior permission.

The photos and names are masked in the drinking water outlets and parks. Under no circumstances the names of political leaders and their contact numbers are allowed to be displayed in public places.

The Election Commission has asked the Municipal Corporation to give a list of ongoing development works undertaken by it. No new orders or tenders can be issued now for any civic works in the city.
