In yet another incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the International border in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani forces today resorted to shelling and firing Akhnoor sector of Jammu district which left a woman killed and three others including a BSF jawan injured.
According to BSF sources, the forces from across the border opened fire on a BSF constable guarding a border outpost in Kanachak area of Akhnoor sector around 9 am this morning. As BSF troops tried to evacuate the injured jawan, they were heavily fired upon by Pakistani forces.
The BSF troops retaliated, resulting in exchange of fire. Later the Pakistani forces resorted to mortar shelling in Pargwal area of the same sector which resulted in civilian causality and injuries, and also opened fronts from other border outposts in the area. Intermittent exchange of fire was going on when the last reports came in.
