The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today continued its searches in Kashmir in connection with terror funding allegedly from Pakistan for carrying out subversive activities in the Valley. NIA sources in Delhi said searches were conducted at three places in Srinagar and one in Jammu. NIA also raided Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar’s residence in Srinagar.
Yesterday, NIA carried searches at 14 places in Kashmir and eight places in the national capital. Around 1 crore rupees, two laptops and some other electronic gadgets were seized. The raids were conducted in Srinagar at the residences, offices and commercial establishments of a few financiers, hawala operators and office bearers of some of the separatist groups.
The raids follow questioning of three separatists, including Nayeem Khan, who was seen on television during a sting operation purportedly confessing to receiving money from Pakistan-based terror groups.
