Eight security personnel, including four CRPF men, were killed when terrorists carried out a suicide attack on District Police Lines Pulwama in south Kashmir’s Pulwama Friday. The attack triggered a massive gunfight in which two terrorists were killed.
Four J&K police men were also killed in the terror attack which took place at the crack of dawn when the militants, entered the District police complex in Pulwama. CRPF Spokesman told media that the operation was going on till late in the evening.
The DPL Pulwama is considered as high security zone as it houses Special Operations Group (SOG) camp of J&K Police that normally remains part of all counter militancy operations. The DPL also houses family residential quarters of police personnel.
All the families living in the buildings were evacuated safely. Reports said that two buildings of the Police Premises were destroyed. One of the buildings was completely destroyed and the second one was partially damaged.
Police said it will take some time in getting the details of the personnel who were injured in the day long operation. Police said they have recovered the bodies of the two slain militants and it will take some time to identify them. Jaish-e-Muhammad has already claimed the responsibility of the attack.
