Six CRPF personnel were injured in an attack by suspected terrorists in Srinagar last evening. Two personnel sustained critical injuries. Security sources said unidentified terrorists hurled a hand grenade towards a checkpoint near Karan Nagar police station.

“Six CRPF men were injured. All of them have minor injuries,” CRPF’s special director general (J-K Zone) Zulfiquar Hasan said.

The CRPF’s spokesperson Pankaj Singh said that Bravo 144 battalion of CRPF was the target of the attack.

“The attack was on CRPF deployment who were on ‘night area domination’. We are on the spot and ascertaining the exact number of injuries,” Singh said.

More security forces were rushed to the spot after the attack. The operation is going on to trace the attacker, said Hasan.

At least seven people, including a woman, were injured in a grenade attack in a market place at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar two weeks ago on October 12.
