Four militants were killed in Jammu & Kashmir Monday in two separate operations launched by Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police and other law enforcement agencies in north and south Kashmir areas. A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from both the encounter sites.

Three local Hizbul Mujahideen militants of south Kashmir’s Bijbehara town were killed in an encounter with Army, CRPF and Special Operations Group at Siligam Aishmuqam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In another incident, in north Kashmir’s Manigah forest area of Kupwara district, one unidentified militant was killed today on the eleventh day of the ongoing operation in the district. His body was recovered along with weapons and ammunition. Two more militants are reported hiding in the forest areas. A group of four militants is believed to have infiltrated into this side of Line of Control on 31st of last month. One militant reportedly died due to chilling cold after infiltrating into this side of LoC.

During ongoing Kupwara operation launched on 13th of this month, Commanding Officer Santosh Mahadik died while Lt Colonel of 160 Battalion of Territorial Army sustained bullet injuries in the Manigah area of the district. Four other Army personnel and a cop of Special Operations Group of State Police have been injured till now in the operation.

In yet another incident, terrorists today attacked an army petrol party in the forward areas in Nowshera sector along the line of control in Rajouri district in which one soldier was killed.
