Three Army soldiers were killed by Pakistani troops as both sides exchanged heavy firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir,. Army sources said, the incident occurred near north Kashmir’s Machhal sector of Kupwara district.
The body of one of the soldiers was found tortured and mutilated. Reports said the militants who crossed over into this side of Line of Control mutilated the body of one soldier before running back across LoC under cover fire provided by Pakistan army.
The Army’s Northern Command in a statement said that the Pakistani troops’ action will be appropriately responded. An Army soldier was killed on 9th of this month in a sniper fire from Pakistan in the same sector.
On October 28, an army soldier was killed and his body was mutilated, apparently beheading him, in an encounter close to the LoC in Machhal sector. A militant was also killed in the gunfight that was followed by the ceasefire violation in the sector in which a BSF jawan was killed.
There have been more than 280 incidents of firing and shelling along the LoC and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir that have resulted in the death of 26 people, including 14 security personnel, since September 29.
