army-terror-attackTwo Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists including a top commander were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Drabgam village of Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir.

The slain Hizbul commander has been identified as Sameer Bhat alias Sameer Tiger, a native of Drabgam Pulwama. Another slain terrorist is identified as Aqib Wani of Rajpora Pulwama area.

Two Army personnel including an officer were also injured during initial phase of encounter in the area.

The injured personnel have been evacuated to Srinagar based Army hospital for specialized treatment.

A boy was also killed during clashes between stone pelting protesters and the security forces near the gunfight site in the area.

Meanwhile, the situation in the Pulwama district and neighbouring areas in south Kashmir was reported to be tense. Huge deployment of police and other security personnel has been made to maintain law and order in the area and other neighbouring areas in south Kashmir districts.

As earlier reported, on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists, the joint team of Army, Special Operations Group of Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Drabgam village early this morning.

Sources said, as the forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire triggering off a gunfight.
