AMN / NEW DELHI
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will review the progress of two major power generation projects of Jharkhand today through video conferencing. These projects include Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PUVNL), a joint venture of the State Government, and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), under construction at Patratu in Ramgarh district, and NTPC’s under-construction North Karanpura Thermal Power Station in Chatra district. The review meeting will be held this afternoon through video conferencing.
In view of the proposed meeting, the officials of the Energy Department have put all preparations in place. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had recently directed all the concerned departments and officials to work with better coordination in view of the power crisis in the state due to delays in both the power projects.
Union Energy Secretary, Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh and Principal Secretary of Energy Department, and other senior officers will participate in the meeting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the first phase of 2,400 MW capacity of Patratu Super Thermal Power Project at a programme in Sindri in May 2018. A 4,000 MW power generation plant is to be set up in two phases at Patratu, while three power plants of 660 MW capacity (total 1,980 MW) are to be set up at North Karanpura. The work of both schemes is in progress.
