Saudi Arabia interior ministry today said a suicide bomber who blew himself up near the United States consulate in Jeddah on Monday has been identified as a Pakistani citizen.
The man has been identified as 35-year-old Abdullah Qalzar Khan, who worked as a driver in the kingdom. Khan resided in Jeddah with his wife and her parents, the interior ministry said in a tweet.
The suicide bomber was killed and two people were wounded in the blast near the US consulate in the kingdom’s second city Jeddah yesterday. Suicide bombers also struck two other cities across the gulf country.
In Medina, one of Islam’s holiest sites a suicide bomber killed four security officers and injured five others. The bomber struck as the officers were breaking their Ramadan fast near the Prophet’s Mosque. In Shiite-dominated Qatif, on the Gulf coast, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a mosque.
