Grand reception awaits PM Modi, Japanese PM in VaranasiJapanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in New Delhi today on a three day visit to India. Mr Abe was received at Palam airport by Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha. Welcoming his Japanese counterpart, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that the visit will provide new strength and vigour to Indo-Japan ties.

During the meeting, Mr Abe expressed excitement for his third visit to India as the Prime Minister. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences for the loss of lives in the recent Chennai floods.

During the visit, the Japanese Prime Minister will hold annual summit level talks with Mr Modi tomorrow. Both the leaders will review implementation of various decisions taken in course of last one year to enhance economic ties, particularly in the trade and investment sector.

A 98,000 crore rupee deal to build a bullet train network is also likely to be signed. After the talks, Mr Abe will visit Varanasi, and attend ‘Ganga Aarti’ at famous Dasaswamedh Ghat. Prime Minister Modi will accompany Mr Abe during the visit.
