Jan Akrosh and Bharat Bandh called by different political parties evoked mixed reaction in different parts of the country. While some state saw a complete strike other witnessed big protest march. In some parts of  states situation remain normal.

In New Delhi Congress, Left, DMK, NCP, RJD and other parties today protested on demonetization in Parliament premises. MPs of these parties, joined by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, displayed posters and shouted slogans against the move and problems faced by the people in various places of the country.

Members of students wing of Congress party, NSUI gathered at Raisina Road and participated in ‘Jan Akrosh rally’ against demonetisation.
In Kerala the shutdown called by the ruling LDF appeared to be total as only private vehicles plied, offices registered minimal attendances, and normal life was crippled.

While the leading national opposition parties called for a nationwide protest the aftermath of the demonetisation, in Kerala the ruling Left Democratic Front government decided to organise a dawn-to-dusk shutdown.

Even though it was a state-wide shutdown, the organisers have left tourism activities and also the banking establishments out of the ambit of the call. They have also sought the pilgrims to the famed Sabarimala temple to be left unaffected by the shutdown.

In West Bengal, while the left parties have called a 12-hour bandh, Congress, AAP, JD (U) and Ms. Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress refrained from participating in the strike.

The Odisha government has decided to keep all government and private educational institutions closed today following the bandh .
In Bihar, little impact was seen at some places. The JD (U) did not participate in either bandh or protest. Schools, Colleges, Offices, Banks and business establishments are functioning as usual. Rail traffic was disrupted in Darbhanga, Bhojpur, Bhagalpur and Jehenabad. Party workers of Congress, RJD and Left parties protested against the demonetisation decision.

In Tamil Nadu, all shops remain open and public transport is plying as usual. Traders associations have stayed away from the bandh call. The DMK, the Left, TMC and a few other parties are participating in the nationwide protests organized by the opposition. However, the ruling AIADMK and the MDMK are not joining the agitations.

In Left ruled Tripura, Normal life was hit in response to the bandh called to protest against demonetisation.In Madhya Pradesh, Congress and other opposition parties organized rallies and meetings across the state to protest demonetisation.

In Gujarat, protests were held by the congress workers in various parts of the state today against the demonetization drive. But shops, transport and offices remained open in the state and overall public life was normal throughout the day.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leaders and workers held ‘Jan Aakrosh’ rallies in various parts across the state.
