AMN /NEW DELHI /
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has strongly condemned the recent attacks on the media, students and faculty of JNU in the Patiala House Courts. It termed the incident as a natural outcome of the politics of hate and violence expounded and practiced by those who believe in the ideology of fascism and are against the pluralistic ethos of this country.
In a statement, the JIH Secretary General Muhammad Salim Engineer saidt: ‘’It is a matter of grave concern that a sitting BJP MLA attacked a CPI minority cell in-charge in broad daylight and then had the audacity to declare to the media that he would have shot him if he had a gun. Another shameful attack took place when many reporters and media persons were threatened and manhandled by BJP sympathizers in the garb of lawyers inside the court.
All this happened in the presence of policemen who remained mute spectators to the crude display of muscle power and intimidation. The crackdown on the JNU campus along with these premeditated violent attacks with full support of the law and order machinery points out that the country is being sucked into the vortex of fascism and is entering a phase that is reminiscent of the dark days of the Emergency.
