Government has ruled out roll back of the decision on demonetization of high value currency notes, rejecting the demand of TMC and AAP and made it clear that there is no question of the reversal of the decision.
Talking to a news agency, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, the government has taken a decision of bringing transparency in the economic and political system and government will stick to it.
On the issue of opposition demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe about the alleged leakage of information before announcement of demonetisation, Mr Jaitley rejected their demand saying that they have produced no evidence in this regard during the discussion in Parliament.
Mr Jaitley condemned the Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad remarks of comparing the demonetisation decision with Uri attack saying that it is an irresponsible statement.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley described the demonetization move as a very well planned and executed move. He said, in the last seven days banks have brought down the rush for transaction and there is no panic.
He, however, expressed regret that people are facing some inconveniences adding that ATMs are being re-calibrated on a war footing. The Minister urged the political parties and states to support the move as it will boost country’s economy. He also complimented bank employees for their commendable job.
