AMN / NEW DELHI

Union Minister Arun Jaitley has accused Congress party of riding on the ‘caravan’ of falsehood and forgeries to influence voters ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

In a Facebook post, Mr Jaitley alleged that forged and fabricated photocopies manufactured and provided by Congress were passed off as BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa’s diary.

The Minister pointed out that a channel which claims to have earned the ‘trust with viewers’ endorsed the falsehood and a newspaper which earned credibility with Bofors headlined the forgeries.

He highlighted that conventional print media followed conservative norms but social media has discarded these norms altogether.

Mr Jaitley said if the right to publish is a part of free speech, the right to live with honour and reputation is an equally essential ingredient of the Right to Life. He said voters are wiser than politicians, and also wiser than those who ride on the ‘caravan’ of falsehood and forgeries.
