AMN /NEW DELHI
A high level delegation of Indian Union Muslim League led by its National President, Prof. Kader Mohideen, Ex MP and consisting of its National office bearers – Mr. P.K. Kunhalikutty, MP & National General Secretary, Mr. E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP & Organising Secretary, Mr. Nawas Khani, MP and Mr. Khurram Anis Omer, National Secretary today called on the Congress President & UPA Chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and discussed some of the important issues prevailing in the country. During the discussion, following issues were prominently discussed.
Suppression of Weaker sections: IUML is of the opinion that the BJP government at the Centre has been successfully implementing their Agenda of suppression of the depressed and oppressed classes of the society – Dalits and Minorities, and spreading fear psychosis among the weaker sections of the society. They have all along ignored the backward community particularly the minorities in governance and treated them as secondary citizens of this country.
With the brute majority in Parliament, they are on the spree of implementing the RSS agenda one after the another. NRC and Citizenship Amendment Bill are the weapons to target the minorities only. BJP leaders at the helm of affairs have been declaring it from different platforms that the refugees or immigrants of all communities except one community i.e. Muslims will be given citizenship with the passage of the proposed Legislation.
So far the legislation brought in and passed by the BJP government, viz. Triple Talaaq, are only to weaken the fundamental rights of the people and clear interference in their personal laws. It is against their rights as enshrined in the constitution.
Ayodhya verdict: Hon’ble Supreme Court’s verdict on Ayodhya is respected by one and all. But it is quite disappointing as the claim of the minority is utterly ignored and set aside. The verdict has no clarity on various issues. The community is much agitated in their minds of being ignored and is gearing up to file a review on the verdict. Muslim organizations have held wider consultations on the issue and are continuing to do so to arrive at a consensus before a review is filed against the verdict.
Kashmir issue: The people of Kashmir are subjected to mental torture and human rights violation. They are treated as intruders at their homes. Freedom of life as enshrined in Constitution is snatched away from the people of Kashmir. Democratic rights of the people are killed. Leaders of political parties and socio cultural organizations are put behind bars or confined to house arrested for months now. They are barred from meeting family members, relatives and their own people. The entire region is put under undeclared emergency and subjected to military aggression.
Economy : The country is facing the worst situation on economic front. The weaker sections of the society is the more affected with the economic crisis. Small and medium scale of industries are closed. Lakhs and lakhs of people have lost their jobs. Among the people affected, most of them are from weaker sections of the society, particularly from Dalits and minorities. They are totally abandoned and the people are on the verge starvation. Farmers suicide is on the rise, which the country has never seen.
Joint efforts by UPA: IUML leaders have urged the Congress President that UPA under the leadership of Indian National Congress should take lead in consolidating the secular forces under an umbrella with common agenda of saving the country from the nefarious designs of the communal forces and to set agenda for the formation of a secular government at the Centre. The beauty of our country is unity in diversity. The secular fabric of the country is targeted on communal lines. This should not be allowed. The Congress should walk an extra mile to convince the secular forces in consolidating them and a nationwide movement with the slogan of ‘save the country from destruction’ should be launched without loss of time.
