The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to open an exclusive research centre in Hyderabad for start-ups, academicians and entrepreneurs, this was stated by ISRO Chairman A.S.Kiran Kumar in Hyderabad today. He said this is for the first time that ISRO is setting up such an exclusive research facility at Jeedimetla in Hyderabad that is specifically aimed at start-ups. He said the centre will explore the possibility of developing products based on geospatial technology, which includes data generated through Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Satellite Remote Sensing.

Entire satellite research data of India and neighbouring countries collected by ISRO satellites over the last few decades and stored in various research centres in India will be made accessible to young researchers through this Centre, he added. The exclusive facility will encourage start-ups with brilliant ideas and transforming the ideas into products, Kiran Kumar said. He delivered a lecture on the research and development of ISRO on the occasion of World Technology Day today at Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad.
