Luckless Delhi Dynamos, in a desperate need of a first win of the season , will be hoping for a miracle as they take on in- form unbeaten Jamshedpur FC in their seventh fixture of the ISL at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.
Delhi coach Josep Gombau tried to put on a brave face by saying “I am happy because this is the first time I have all the players at my disposal and can select my best squad. I am hoping things change against Jamshedpur and maybe they might also lose tomorrow.”
No doubt luck has played truant with Delhi, who have dominated proceedings but it is in the latter stages of the game they conceded the goals and advantage to the rivals.,
Gombau’s side caved in twice in the final 10 minutes against the NE United, while conceded late goals against ATK and FC Pune City thus failing to gain full points.
This afternoon he had a work out with the full squad at his disposal for the first time this season. Rene Mihelic, Bikramjit Singh and Adria Carmona returned from injuries after having missed the last match against NorthEast United.
“We have conceded late goals from counter attacks and it is something that is worrying. We are improving and playing the right football, but we need to finish games well. We are working on that,” the coach said
The hosts have three draws and as many losses in six matches “As long as the numbers are there, we’ll fight to make it to the top four. We will have to try different combinations. It’s not so far-fetched, we’re just six points away, which is two games. We need to work hard to make it,” said Gombau
“I agree that Jamshedpur FC are a very good side and they just beat a good side like Goa. They play good football and show the character to win the game from the very beginning. But we will be going for all three points. Every game is different and I hope that
On the other hand Jamshedpur FC are coming in this game on the back of a 4-1 win against FC Goa. Interestingly the visitors head coach Cesar Ferrando plays a similar style of football as Gombau,
The match will see Jamshedpur defender Pratik Chowdhary play against his former side for the first time since leaving while marquee signing Tim Cahill is expected to start as well.
For the visitors Michael Soosairaj is in good form and has justified the transfer fee paid by his team for him to Chennai City FC. The Indian attacker has three goals to his name and his ability to take on defenders in certainly something Delhi needs to worry about.
.
However Ferrando is not underestimating the rivals ““Delhi is a very dangerous team at this moment. They have very good players and a good coach. They want to win and it will be a very strong match,” .
